#1 – From West Virginia Explorer – Nighttime Deer Surveys
Biologists from the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources are
conducting nighttime deer population surveys using thermal cameras.
During the survey period, which runs through August 29 and again
from September 15-26, residents may notice marked division vehicles
using spotlights at night along the survey routes. These efforts
provide accurate data to guide wildlife management decisions,
balance deer herds, and sustain healthy forests across West
Virginia.
